Frequently Asked Questions about Training, Enrollment, and Next Steps
Ranging in age from 18 to 75, our students come from many diverse professions and life paths, yet share a deep commitment to personal transformation, healing, and the evolution of the human spirit. Many are drawn to the training through a desire to become a healing presence within themselves, their relationships, and the world. Through the Brennan journey, students often find greater clarity of purpose, deeper self-understanding, and a stronger connection to their own path.
Our student body includes teachers, writers, yoga instructors, bodyworkers, artists, accountants, attorneys, business consultants, computer and technology specialists, healthcare practitioners, stay-at-home parents, and many others. More than 15% of our students are practicing members of the healthcare community, including medical doctors, registered nurses, physical therapists, psychotherapists, and nutritionists. Although students arrive with very different backgrounds and experiences, they are united by a shared dedication to growth, healing, and meaningful contribution.
The Professional Studies Diploma Program is a structured, 4-year training that integrates energy healing skills, personal transformation, and embodied spiritual development. Unlike workshops, events, or short courses—which are typically focused on a specific topic or experience—the Professional Studies program offers an immersive and life-changing course of study designed to deepen self-awareness, develop healing abilities, and support lasting personal transformation. If needed, students may take a break between years, extending the overall time to complete the program.
The part-time four-year Brennan program includes approximately 20 days of in-person or live Zoom training each year. These 20 days are distributed into five sessions per school year, and spaced approximately six weeks apart. Students can maintain full-time jobs and family obligations, and do not need to relocate to attend the program.
Between training sessions, students engage in readings, reflective exercises, practice healings, and assignments, and receive personal feedback from their teachers. Typically, students spend approximately 2 hours per week on this work.
In general, classes begin at 9 AM and end at 5 PM, with a 1 to 1 ½ hour lunch break. In addition, optional sessions before and after the class day may include Morning Movement, Evening Lectures, or evening community-building events.
Most students spend approximately 2 hours per week on readings, practice healings, and related assignments between training sessions.
While students are expected to attend training sessions consistently—either in person or via Zoom—we recognize that life circumstances and scheduling challenges can sometimes arise.
To help students stay current if a class is missed, key elements of the training curriculum are recorded for review. Teachers are also available to support students individually with questions or class material when absences become necessary.
Because the training is deeply experiential and relational, consistent attendance is important. Students may miss up to 5 class days per year, with a maximum of 10 days over the full 4-year program. Individual circumstances will always be considered, and the school will work with students whenever possible to support successful completion of the training.
Yes, online attendance is available for most BBSH training locations. Some Year 1 locations may offer in-person training only. Please check the specific location page or speak with an enrollment advisor for details.
Students join from around the world, so the best location is usually the one that is most accessible and supportive for you. Consider travel distance, time zone for online participation, and language (including translation support where available). You may also feel naturally drawn to a particular location or community, which can be an important part of your decision.
Students attending via Zoom participate fully in the classes alongside the in-person students. Rather than “watching” in-person class activity from Zoom, students on Zoom are a contributing part of the learning environment, sharing their experiences and questions throughout as they experience lectures, experiential exercises, and small group process work.
Our training approach has been adapted for the online space, and is very interactive, relational, and deeply engaging. We have found that when students (both online and in-person) share this kind of interactive environment and remain actively engaged, they can expect a strong and meaningful learning experience. Together, the Zoom and in-person students create a shared learning and healing environment.
Students are enrolled in a specific location, as the program is designed around building ongoing relationships with your classmates and teaching team.
In certain situations—such as relocation or the need to make up a missed session—students may attend training at another location with approval.
The Professional Studies Program is a four-year immersion designed to progressively deepen healing skills, personal transformation, and embodied spiritual development over time. The extended structure allows students to build a strong foundation while participating in an ongoing learning community that supports both personal and professional growth.
Some locations are designed as regional entry points, making the training more accessible to students in different parts of the world. These programs focus on providing a strong Year 1 foundation, after which students continue their studies at a location offering the full four-year training.
Some Year 1 locations may not offer a Zoom option during in-person training weeks. Please speak with an enrollment advisor about the format available for a specific location.
Upon successful completion of Year 1, students may continue their training at one of the four-year BBSH training locations around the world to complete Years 2, 3, and 4.
After Year 1, students have developed foundational skills in energy awareness, personal process, and basic healing techniques. While this is not a professional certification level, many students begin integrating these skills into their personal lives and, in some cases, into existing professional practices.
All students start in Year 1 regardless of their prior training or experience. Each year builds upon the previous one so we are unable to fast track anyone.
International students are generally responsible for arranging their own travel and visa requirements based on the country where they will attend training. In most cases, students attending in-person training travel using standard tourist or visitor visas. Please review the travel requirements for your intended training location prior to enrollment.
Language support varies by school location and may range from formally organized translation support to more informal multilingual assistance within the training environment, so please refer to the specific location page for details about the language support available for your chosen school.
Many of our four-year schools include teachers, assistants, or community members who speak multiple languages and can offer additional language support within the training environment.
Personal process sessions are a supportive adjunct to the training. This requirement began with Barbara Brennan, who recognized that these sessions support the emotional, psychological, and spiritual development students experience throughout their journey at the school.
BBSH provides a list of approved therapeutic modalities in the catalog. When possible, we encourage students to work with a Brennan Integration Practitioner, as they are familiar with the personal transformational process and the unique journey students experience throughout the training.
Additional requirements may include:

Students enrolled in a BBSH Latin American school who live full-time in Latin America are eligible for a 40% regional cost-of-living adjustment, reducing annual tuition to $4,740. This is a regional pricing model, not a scholarship.
Yes, we are offering partial scholarships for the 2026–27 school year for Black and African-American or First Nations/First Peoples prospective students. The tuition will be $4,740 per year, which is 60% of our regular tuition of $7,900. We are offering a total of 6 partial scholarships at any of the BBSH school locations for those who qualify.
